The People's Money is New York City's annual citywide Participatory Budgeting (PB) initiative where community members decide how to spend a part of the city's budget. Every year New Yorkers vote to decide what ideas to bring to life in their communities.
The new cycle of The People’s Money has officially launched, and we’re now accepting ideas for how to spend part of the New York City budget. The deadline to submit is November 19, 2025. Before you submit, check that your idea meets these guidelines:
✅ Is it a program or service (not a capital project like bathroom repairs, playground construction, or building renovations)? Looking for inspiration? Explore projects being brought to life today from residents’ ideas!
✅ Does it address a community problem without requiring new city laws or additional city staff?
✅ Does it include enough detail so the Civic Engagement Commission (CEC) can understand how it works?
✅ Is it respectful of the rights of all New Yorkers?
If you answered “Yes” to all of these questions, you’re ready to submit your idea!
