What makes an idea submission acceptable?
To be accepted, your idea must meet these criteria:
It must be an expense project. This means programs, services, or events — not capital projects like construction, building repairs, or new equipment.
Examples: after-school programs, art classes, or community mental health initiatives.It must not require new city laws or additional staff. Ideas should work within existing city resources and legal frameworks.
It must respect the rights of all New Yorkers. Submissions should not discriminate or exclude any community members.
It must be detailed enough to review. Submissions should clearly explain how the idea would work so the Civic Engagement Commission (CEC) can fully understand it.
