- \"The Deliberative Café process offers an inclusive method to address these challenges. We propose selecting 36 Staten Island residents, representing diverse political, social, and economic demographics, to:\n\n* Consult experts, such as historians, on threats to democracy and corruption.\n* Deliberate collaboratively on actionable strategies to protect democracy in the U.S. and globally.\n* Create educational materials, including Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and social media content, to share these strategies broadly.\n\nWith Staten Island’s near-even political balance (120,709 Democrats vs. 100,752 Republicans), this initiative will model bipartisan collaboration and problem-solving.\n\nDeliberative findings will be disseminated through:\n\n* Social media campaigns, fostering broad engagement.\n* A documentary, showcasing the process and its recommendations for local and global audiences.\n* Local partnerships, amplify the materials’ reach through schools, media, and civic organizations.\n\nMeasurable Outcomes:\n\n* Recommendations resonate with diverse groups, demonstrated by social media shares and discussions.\n\nVision: Staten Island becomes recognized as a center for non-partisan civic problem-solving, inspiring similar initiatives nationwide.\"\n

- \"The world faces a growing crisis of corruption and a rise in anti-democratic forces. Many Americans are unclear on practical steps to protect freedom and democracy, and societal divisions make it difficult to work with those of different political affiliations, ages, or economic backgrounds.\n\nOne might think that maintaining democracy and freedom would be everyone's priority, yet effective action steps remain elusive.\"\n
