Title of Idea: Youth Hub: NYC’s First 24-Hour Hybrid Empowerment Hub for Ages 0–25

Avatar: Ashley Melo-mamon Ashley Melo-mamon
Idea Submission for The People's Money:
The Youth Hub will be NYC’s first all-inclusive, 24-hour hybrid youth services hub for ages 0–25. Located in every borough and accessible citywide through a digital platform, it will serve as both an out-of-school-time destination and an emergency support center—offering virtual and in-person access to social, academic, emotional, and professional development resources. Every youth who enters—physically or digitally—will be paired with a Life Advisor and gain direct access to a coalition of vetted community-based organizations that deliver wraparound services tailored to each individual’s needs. The Youth Hub will be a safe space to be seen, heard, and supported—a place of refuge, recreation, and transformation. With a holistic approach to wellness and wealth, the Youth Hub will teach young people that health is wealth, empowering them to use food as medicine, embrace mental and emotional wellness, and build financial literacy and generational wealth. From nutrition labs to entrepreneurship workshops, trauma-informed counseling to peer mentorship pipelines, the Youth Hub will be a living blueprint for equity, legacy, and youth-led progress. The Youth Hub will be fully inclusive of youth with special needs and those facing adversity—ensuring accessibility, dignity, and tailored support for every participant. Whether navigating disability, trauma, housing insecurity, or systemic barriers, every young person will be met with compassion, resources, and opportunity.
What is the problem your idea aims to address?
Youth across NYC face rising mental health challenges, academic disengagement, lack of access to safe spaces, and limited exposure to financial literacy and wellness education. Youth with special needs and those facing adversity often experience these challenges more acutely. The Youth Hub addresses these gaps by offering 24-hour, borough-wide access to trusted adults, peer mentors, and holistic services that support youth success and resilience.
