Essential

Throughout four deliberation sessions, Assembly Members decided to advance this idea to one of the final borough ballots for New Yorkers to vote on. The idea has been edited by Assembly Members and CEC staff to fit ballot character limits and remove all references to specific institutions and geographies. Here is the final idea title and description as it will appear on the ballot:

Freedom Through Wellness

A program for justice-impacted people with therapy, fitness, and life skills workshops. Focused on healing trauma, building confidence, and stability.

Freedom Through Wellness

Idea Submission for The People's Money:
A program that supports justice-impacted people through therapy, fitness, and life skills workshops. Focused on healing trauma, rebuilding confidence, and promoting stability, helping people stay out of the system and thrive in their communities.
What is the problem your idea aims to address?
Health and wellbeing deserve more funding because they're key to breaking the cycle of recidivism. Many justice impacted people return home with untreated trauma, stress, and health issues. When they have access to therapy, fitness, nutrition, and community support they're able to heal, find stability, and stay out of the system.
