Idea Submission for The People's Money:: The NYC Civic Engagement Commission (CEC) can help develop a program to address heating issues in senior residences through its participatory budgeting initiative, “The People’s Money.”
What is the problem your idea aims to address?: Provide a remedy to address the insufficient heat in Bedford-Stuyvesant senior residences. A proposal through the CEC could fund: • Emergency HVAC repairs in senior buildings • Weatherization audits to assess insulation and heat loss • Portable heaters or thermal blankets for immediate relief • Tenant education workshops on reporting heating violations • Partnerships with HPD and aging services to ensure compliance and support.
