The responses below are directly from the community organizations selected to implement The People’s Money projects.

How does your organization plan to bring this idea to life?

Our organization will bring this idea to life by hosting a series of interactive workshops led by financial and career development professionals, both in person and virtually. We will partner with local schools, community centers, and survivor networks to reach women, youth, and impacted community members, providing practical tools, resources, and guidance to build financial confidence and independence.

What motivated your organization to apply to implement this idea?

South Queens Women's March was motivated to apply for this project because we have witnessed firsthand how economic instability and lack of financial literacy can deepen cycles of gender-based violence and inequality in our community. Our organization is uniquely qualified to implement this project because we have a strong history of delivering accessible, culturally responsive financial literacy and professional development workshops that have reached over 1,000 community members. With deep roots in South Queens, a trusted relationship with local residents, and a team experienced in community organizing, education, and advocacy, we bring both expertise and authenticity to empowering participants toward long-term financial independence.

How do you think this project will make a difference in your community?

This project will make a difference in the community by equipping women, survivors, and youth with the financial knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions, achieve economic independence, and break cycles of financial dependence that often perpetuate inequality and violence. It is important because financial empowerment is a key pathway to safety, stability, and self-determination - especially in underserved communities like South Queens, where access to these vital resources has historically been limited.

List at least one thing you're excited about related to this project!

We’re excited to see participants gain confidence in managing their finances and pursuing their career goals. We look forward to witnessing community members, especially young people and survivors, apply what they’ve learned to build financial independence, strengthen their economic stability, and inspire others to do the same.

How can someone participate or stay up to date on the project?

People can learn more about this project by visiting the South Queens Women’s March website, following our social media channels for updates, and connecting with our partner schools, community centers, and local organizations where we host workshops and share resources.
