What problem would you like to solve?

I am concerned that students in my community are not graduating on time.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

NYC spends way too much money on education, and students need to graduate on time. We want folks to be able to access jobs and opportunities after high school. In addition, students might be discouraged and discontinue attending school if they are unable to graduate with their peers and support systems.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

I envision peer support circles or accountability partners for folks to feel supported by their peers. I see a recent graduate or community member serving as a leader for a cohort of students. Weekly meetings and sessions to problem solve concerns and work collectively to help folks to the finish line.

    Who would that help?

Students who are struggling in school or in need of guidance, support, and encouragement to break down barriers to graduation.

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

    Morningside Heights & Hamilton Heights
