Throughout four deliberation sessions, Assembly Members decided to advance this idea to one of the final borough ballots for New Yorkers to vote on. The idea has been edited by Assembly Members and CEC staff to fit ballot character limits and remove all references to specific institutions and geographies. Here is the final idea title and description as it will appear on the ballot:
Make Housing Available For All
- Idea Submission for The People's Money:
- A housing resource program that includes both workshops and one-on-one appointments. A series of housing workshops related to obtaining housing. A team of housing counselors helping people apply and search for available units while subsidizing broker fees.
- What is the problem your idea aims to address?
- The lack of housing in NYC. Waitlist for housing in NYC for certain programs is too long (years). NYC housing is too expensive. People in shelters need assistance to obtain housing.
