Essential

Art-Making for Social Change

Avatar: Anthony R. Carrion Anthony R. Carrion
Idea Submission for The People's Money:
Create artist workshops where community residents can employ the services of artists in campaigns for social change. Participating artists would receive stipends for producing relevant art such as fliers, posters, T-shirts, wall murals, photography, etc. An end of year show would be organized to showcase all of the artwork.
What is the problem your idea aims to address?
There is a need for art when community groups are looking to communicate their message and raise awareness about an issue. Artists should be paid for their work and contributions. This program addresses both needs.
