What problem would you like to solve?

Reopening Hunts Point Library, providing communal space for the public to gather and engage with information sharing

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Hunts Point/Longwood communities have very few protective public/social institions pre-COvid. Covid shut down what did exist and left the community isolated. The library remaining closed continues to disincentive residents, especially children and families that need a supportive environment

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Identify other community public institutions that can offer spaces for people to gather, exchange info, and provide helpful programs - this can help the community while the library is renovated and potentially create lasting institutions

    Who would that help?

Community members that do not readily have access to books, resources and technology and supportive workers (librarians, educators)

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

    The Bronx
