Mental Health Workshops for Childen Ages Five to 17

Avatar: Community Member Community Member

What problem would you like to solve?

Mental health issues are seemingly at an all-time high, both in terms of common problems such as anxiety and depression and also more serious issues. These issues are especially pronounced in our children and teenagers.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Children and teens do not have the coping abilities to handle stressful situations the way that adults do. Anything to help them through these times and to learn how to deal with mental health issues. And normalizing mental health and seeking treatment for it early in life might build better habits for these children as they grow up.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

We want mental health workshops for people who want to be more knowledgeable about mental health issues to have a place where they can learn about them. Specific activities should include yoga and meditation.

Who would that help?

Any children ages five to 17 living in the Bronx.

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

Bronx
