Essential

Dyckman peer mentoring services for second language learners

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

What problem would you like to solve?

Employment for youth/mentoring training and opportunities to develop english speaking skills.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

We have a significant number of students who have as a main barrier to their progress not having english speaking skills or needing it as a second language.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Peer mentoring services for people who need assistance and english is a second language that they are learning. Both for language skills, and also for professional development (how to interview, how to prepare a resume, how to look for jobs online).

Who would that help?

Both mentors and mentees since they will be developing new skills and at the same time receiving services.

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

Manhattan
