"Wellness Room"
- Idea Submission for The People's Money:
- Not every resident has access to therapy & shelters have long waits for mental-health appts. A wellness room equipped with soft lighting, comfortable seating, meditation tools, plants, calming ambiance/music can provide daily low cost mental health supports, access to wifi or tablets/computers so people can stay productive & be able to apply for employment, which would help them maintain stability while work/looking for jobs/attend appts. it would also reduce shelter tensions & improve community relations.
- What is the problem your idea aims to address?
- A wellness room would be beneficial because it addresses one of the biggest unmet needs in shelters; emotional stability, stress relief, it improves mental health w/o requiring expensive clinical services
