Idea Submission – The People’s Money JetEx Mechanical LLC – Community Welding & Trades Training School In Partnership with the Central Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation (CBEDC) Summary of the Idea JetEx Mechanical LLC, in partnership with the Central Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation (CBEDC), proposes launching a Community Welding & Trades Training School to bring affordable, accessible, hands-on technical training to underserved neighborhoods throughout Brooklyn and New York City. This program will offer industry-recognized certifications in welding, pipefitting, mechanical systems, HVAC fundamentals, safety, and fabrication—creating direct pathways into high-demand, high-paying careers across the construction and energy sectors. Reason for Submission / Why This Idea Matters New York City is experiencing a critical skilled labor shortage, especially in welding, HVAC, piping, and mechanical trades. At the same time, many communities—particularly in Central Brooklyn—lack access to affordable, high-quality trade education. JetEx Mechanical LLC and CBEDC are united in tackling this problem through a community-centered trade school that removes financial, educational, and access barriers. Residents currently face: Few affordable trade programs in their neighborhoods Long travel times to reach training centers Limited exposure to welding and mechanical career paths Barriers to union apprenticeships Lack of direct links to employment This program directly addresses those challenges. Community Need & Impact 1. A Direct Path to High-Paying Careers Certified welders and mechanical workers earn $35–$75 per hour, and employers across NYC are struggling to hire qualified talent. 2. Community-Based Training Through CBEDC Partnership CBEDC has a long-standing mission of supporting: Workforce development Economic equity Youth empowerment Community revitalization Their involvement ensures the training center is rooted in community needs and accessible to local residents. 3. Hands-On Learning That Leads to Jobs Students will receive real-world training in: Welding (SMAW, MIG, TIG) Structural and pipe welding HVAC and mechanical systems Pipefitting and fabrication Safety and OSHA 10/30 CBEDC will provide case management, career readiness, and wraparound services, while JetEx Mechanical provides technical training and job access. 4. Priority to Underserved Populations The program will intentionally serve: Central Brooklyn youth Veterans Adults seeking new careers Returning citizens Low-income households 5. Guaranteed Workforce Pipeline Through JetEx & CBEDC Together, JetEx and CBEDC will provide: Apprenticeship referrals Job placement with local contractors Opportunities on City, State, and Federal projects Pathways into union trades and mechanical careers This is not just training—it’s economic mobility. Why JetEx + CBEDC Are the Right Partnership JetEx Mechanical LLC brings: Over 20 years of field experience Expertise in federal, state, and institutional construction Welding, piping, HVAC, and mechanical specialists A commitment to community hiring and inclusion CBEDC brings: Proven success in workforce development Deep community trust and engagement Administrative capacity and support services Space, outreach, and long-term sustainability strategies Together, they create a powerful, community-rooted training ecosystem. Conclusion A JetEx–CBEDC Welding & Trades Training School will: Equip residents with real, marketable skills Provide certifications that lead to immediate employment Build long-term economic pathways Address the trades labor shortage Strengthen Central Brooklyn’s economic future The People’s Money should support this idea because it provides life-changing skills, jobs, and opportunities for communities that need it most.
