New York Public Library Housing Support Group
- Idea Submission for The People's Money:
- Our idea is to have a housing support group program run by the New York Public Library. Since many NYPL staff already run groups, they already have a network and infrastructure to spread the word about the program. Staff and social work interns could help people with housing referrals and getting placed into housing programs.
- What is the problem your idea aims to address?
- This topic area needs more funding due to unstable housing and due to the fact that homelessness and recidivism go hand in hand. There isn't enough support to help people apply for 2010e supportive housing applications. Furthermore, 2010e approval is prerequisite for other services and the application is lengthy and a barrier in and of itself.
