Canarsie Youth Workforce & Futures Program (CYWFP)

Idea Submission for The People's Money:
The Canarsie Youth Workforce & Futures Program (CYWFP) reimagines opportunity for the children of Canarsie, especially those too often overlooked. By pairing exposure, mentorship, emotional support, and real-world job pathways, CYWFP builds both skills and self-belief. It’s more than a workforce program, it’s a mind-expanding, heart-centered movement that empowers disadvantaged youth to see themselves as capable, confident, and connected to a world beyond their immediate surroundings.
What is the problem your idea aims to address?
In Canarsie and surrounding neighborhoods, too many young people are disengaged from school — emotionally, academically, or physically. Some have dropped out, others attend irregularly, and many feel that traditional education does not reflect their reality or potential. This disengagement creates a pipeline of lost potential — youth who are bright, capable, and creative but feel invisible within systems designed without their voice.
