Throughout four deliberation sessions, Assembly Members decided to advance this idea to one of the final borough ballots for New Yorkers to vote on. The idea has been edited by Assembly Members and CEC staff to fit ballot character limits and remove all references to specific institutions and geographies. Idea Submission for The People's Money:
Workshop that teaches community members how to recognize signs of domestic violence support and support survivors safely, training for staff, teachers, and local organizations on how to respond when someone discloses abuse. Educational community events to raise awareness about domestic violence and how to identify it and where to go for help. Legal assistance for survivors who need lawyers to help with court cases, custody issues, or protection orders.
