Thank you to everyone that submitted their ideas online or in-person!

What happened during Idea Generation?

From October 10th to November 24th of 2024, we invited New Yorkers to in-person workshops to learn about the city budget, identify community needs, and submit ideas for expense projects through interactive activities and discussion. Residents were also able to submit ideas online directly through this website.

Highlights from Idea Generation!

Prior to launching the Idea Generation Phase, the CEC opened an application for community based organizations and other groups to partner with us to host Idea Generations Sessions across the five boroughs. We received 129 applications, and selected 79 partners. You can view a list of our partners here.

In addition to Idea Generation sessions facilitated by our partnering organizations, the CEC also trained 23 individual community facilitators to host 77 Idea Generation sessions.

  • In total, there were 480 Idea Generation sessions held throughout the city through which we engaged 9,725 New Yorkers.

  • In total, New Yorkers submitted 4,015 ideas.
