Describe the challenge you want to address:
Organizing a fall festival in an underserved, underused, outdated playground in Norwood, Bronx, involves several key challenges. Outdated playground equipment, a lack of seating, water play, and a water fountain make it hard to create a comfortable, family-friendly, safe atmosphere. We have limited financial resources to organize a gathering event at the playground to get the materials needed to highlight the need to have this space and do outreach within the community and the city agencies involved in creating safe public spaces. This is a forgotten playground, hidden away, with no programming in an area that needs one to combat the stresses of everyday city life. Park users of the playground have requested help from a local non-profit to put a spotlight on their playground and help it get renovated.
What is the solution to the challenge?
Addressing these challenges effectively could make the festival a transformative event for the community, breathing new life into the playground and demonstrating its potential as a community gathering space.
