Describe the challenge you want to address:
Many people don't recycle and compost at all or don't do it properly. There are many flyers, posters, stickers that explain how to do this but people are not motivated to recycle and compost properly.
What is the solution to the challenge?
The NYC Recycling App: design an app where anyone can take a selfie of themselves recycling and composting and receive a token they can redeem for $1 or an Amazon gift card for each selfie where the recycling and composting was done correctly. Amazon would probably agree to partner with NYC on this. If someone gets a $5 gift card they'll spend more than that on the Amazon website. Or other partners might want to do this also for more business and good will. You can add contests and games where tokens can be won as well (to engage younger folk). Make it easy, fewer rules, as long as recycling and composting are done correctly.
