Describe the challenge you want to address:
"Everyone who has lived in NYC has “that story” (about a time they witnessed/experienced something crazy). Most New Yorkers have gotten accustomed to situations where someone (either who is mentally ill/under the influence/having a bad day) is acting out/creates a crisis situation. Unfortunately, the response to situations like these is oftentimes to ignore the individual and hope that they go away."
Describe your idea and approach to address the challenge:
"Our idea was to fund various de-escalation trainings. These trainings could be done in middle/high school classrooms and through after-hour programs for working individuals. In addition to actual trainings, we also suggested having a “SparkNotes” version on Subways/in Subway platforms."
