Essential

Downtown Manhattan Pedestrian Zone

Avatar: Community Member Community Member

What problem would you like to solve?

Lots of pedestrians and tourists in downtown, plus pollution

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Safety of people, especially tourists; allow people to move around more easily and freely, and it will reduce car trips if there are car-free zones, which will mean less pollution in the tiny caverns between buildings

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Expand what there is around Wall St and Broad St to most of downtown and close the streets to traffic during the day

Who would that help?

Tourists, shops and anyone who lives or works in the area

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

Manhattan
