Essential

Bikes and Growth!

Avatar: Community Member Community Member

What problem would you like to solve?

Not enough opportunities for youth to practice BMX. Not enough youth have bicycle fixing skills. Youth lack job training, Queens has too many broken, abandoned bicycles on the streets

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Youth will build job skills, discipline, team work, self-esteem. Abandoned broken bicycles will be repurposed. Youth will learn a sport in a team

What idea do you have to address the problem?

A BMX team of youth and young adults, that practice in Flushing Meadows Park. They will learn to maintain their bikes, and will learn to repurpose and fix broken bikes. They will practice and compete together.

Who would that help?

Young adults and youth

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

Queens
