Children Learning Portuguese

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

What problem would you like to solve?

US-born children do not learn to read and write in Portuguese because Brazilian immigrant parents do not have time to teach. Other children who may be interested in learning Portuguese do not have the opportunity in language classes at school.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

So children and teens can learn a second language

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Basic reading and writing classes in Portuguese at the local public schools or libraries

Who would that help?

Youth in the community

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

Queens
