Essential

Open communication

Avatar: Community Member Community Member

What problem would you like to solve?

equal access to communication for Deaf and Hard of Hearing parents and their children at school

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Its harder for these children to learn due to lack of quality educational services for them, get necessary services and for the parents to understand what is going on in their childs education

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Make sure to have ASL staff at all schools and more than one. Make sure to have services and workshops after school for parents to have an open forum, ask question, learn everything they need. Break barriers of communication that way this population doesn't feel isolated.

Who would that help?

The deaf and or hard of hearing population

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

Bronx
