What problem would you like to solve?

Older adults specifically those who are visually impaired or blind struggle with learning technology to adjust to daily living. This also means that their daily living routines in general are affected and can have major impacts on their well being.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Chelsea Manhattan has a big community of older adults specifically those who are blind or visually impaired who can really use these services especially as the city rolls out free technologies that are meant to enhance quality of life. This needs to be solved because it is the missing piece that connects the challenge of older adults learning adaptive technology and being successful in learning how to navigate technology on their own.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Expand the intergenerational program through funding in order to reach more older adults who need assistance with daily living or with new technology. HS volunteers can be trained in assisting older adults and those who are blind and visually impaired in order to better serve needs.

    Who would that help?

Older adults and those who are visually impaired or blind. In most cases their is some overlap between these populations that need help understanding how to use technology.

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

    Manhattan
