What problem would you like to solve?

The problem I would like to solve is the obesity rates among youth and adults are the highest in NYC. No Trader Joe's or Whole Food's Market.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

This is important because obesity continues to rise in NYC and it is harming our families especially within our communities. When thinking about obesity we must first think about healthy eating however, many feel healthy eating is expensive and decide and choose not to eat the healthier options to save money. I know members in my community that do this.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

An Idea I have to address this problem is bringing nutrition education awareness (Similar to COVID campaigns) PSA and social media to assist in bringing awareness. This program can help bring healthy behaviors to increase demand for healthy products through cooking classes, cooking demonstrations and assistance with meal plans. We should also teach the public how to cook healthier based on their age and health conditions (such as diabetes).

    Who would that help?

Community residents of all ages that do not have access or information about healthy eating.

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

    Bronx
