Essential

Literacy Beyond Words and $

Avatar: Community Member Community Member

What problem would you like to solve?

Lack of basic life skills for young people.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Too many young people from age 15-24 in the Bronx do not have very basic skills in managing finances or banking (even having a bank account).

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Offer an in-school or afterschool extra curricular training program for young people to obtain financial literacy training -- everything from planning expenses, paying rent, credit building, budgeting, banking and other financial literacy topics.

Who would that help?

Young people under 24.

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

Bronx
