Essential

Dog education program

Avatar: Community Member Community Member

What problem would you like to solve?

Dog owners are not picking up after their dogs and they need to be educated about the affects of their behavior.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Dog droppings are unhealthy for the community, unsightly, causes diseases, etc. NYCHA Ravenswood has a large dog population and many dogs go to the bathroom on the greenspaces and owners don't clean up.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Educate dog owners about cleaning up, put out information in newsletters, work with a group to engage owners about dog care and benefits of picking up after the animals, and provide bags to help owners cleanup.

Who would that help?

NYCHA workers who have to clean up and will feel better about the grounds. The entire community who is impacted negatively by this issue.

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

Queens
