What problem would you like to solve?

Create pathways for high schoolers at the start of their high school experience to connect with a mentor from a higher education institution in their area. The institution should agree to a plan of free tuition to students who show interest in higher education but may not be able to access it due to being marginalized as youth of color, 1st generation, immigrant status, etc...

Address the education gap and promote equity that result in better outcomes for youth mentally and economically.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Build a mentorship program and have a commitment from community institutions to fund education for youth.

Who would that help?

Directly impacts youth and their families and can give them access to employment.

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

Morningside Heights and Hamilton Heights.
