What problem would you like to solve?

Parents are not always able to afford tutors for students. Tutoring opportunities for students at schools may not always be convenient for a family's schedule. Expanding tutoring opportunities in local libraries would provide greater flexibility.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Tutoring services can be expensive or not provide the flexibility needed for families (i.e., older siblings may need to pick up younger siblings after school, which might prevent them from participating in school-based tutoring).

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Expand the number and hours of programs that provide tutoring for students at libraries and community centers. This could focus on homework help and general tutoring to improve academic performance.

Who would that help?

Providing a greater variety of programs and at different days and times (i.e., weekends, afternoons, and evenings) would expand access to tutoring and academic support for economically disadvantaged students.
