Essential

Increase awareness of community gardens

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

What problem would you like to solve?

The Bronx is home to community gardens but too few people know about them and utilize them. There is also the problem that most people who know about the gardens don't want to help or contribute to their upkeep.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Community gardens only thrive when people take an active interest in them!

What idea do you have to address the problem?

A program should be created to attract new, active members to community gardens, specifically in the Morris Park area and to Brook Park Community Garden, but also to other community gardens in the Bronx. Awareness of the community gardens should be increased in general through this program.

Who would that help?

This would help members of the community gardens and neighbors who would be more aware of the existence of the gardens and be more motivated to help take care of them. This could also be a chance for people to meet their neighbors working together in the gardens.

What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?

Morris Park, Brook Park Community Garden, Bronx community gardens
