The Center for Independence of the Disabled, New York’s (CIDNY) goal is to ensure full integration, independence, and equal opportunity for all people with disabilities by removing barriers to the social, economic, cultural, and civic life of the community. Through this project, CIDNY will address gaps in knowledge of the Fair Housing Act and educate people with disabilities, so they know their rights and how to effectively advocate for themselves. CIDNY will provide counseling and support as they assert their rights under the Fair Housing Act through along with workshops and trainings. CIDNY is committed to promoting rights and redress for housing discrimination against people with disabilities and will continue efforts begun under this project when the project is completed.
