Multilingual workshops at existing libraries and community centers across the borough would teach residents to read building permits, document unsafe construction, find housing resources and participate in public meetings. A community organization would offer individual guidance, printed resources, telephone assistance, and evening and weekend sessions so working families, seniors and residents with limited internet access can participate. Funding would support education, translation and outreach.

What problem is your idea trying to solve?

Bronx residents often face housing problems, unsafe construction and major neighborhood changes without clear information about their rights or how to get help. Public records and zoning documents can be difficult to understand, while language barriers, limited internet access and work schedules make participation harder. As a result, tenants and homeowners may miss opportunities to raise concerns or protect their homes. This program would make practical information and assistance accessible throughout the Bronx.

Which group(s) does your idea focus on?

Older Adults (65 +)

Limited English Speakers

Immigrants / Migrants

Parents

</xml>
