What is Idea Generation?

Idea Generation is the first step of The People’s Money — New York City’s citywide participatory budgeting process. It’s your chance to share ideas for projects that can strengthen your community and make life better across our city.

How You Can Participate:

• The 5th Cycle of The People’s Money is now live — and we’re ready for your ideas! Your idea could become a real project in your neighborhood. Submit your idea by November 18, 2026. Submit an Idea!

• Prefer to collaborate in person? Join a free Idea Generation Workshop near you to brainstorm and build ideas with your neighbors. Attend a Workshop!

• At these workshops, New Yorkers come together to:

• Learn how the city budget works

  • Discuss what their neighborhoods need

  • Share and develop project ideas to improve their communities
