Idea Submission for The People's Money:
My idea is for a mentorship program for teen girls ages 13-17 and young women ages 18-29 to engage in a holistic social circle where they meet monthly to discuss different topics of health and wellness including financial literacy. These will be led by social workers and experts in those topics. They will also plan/host 4 different events/activities promoting health and wellness such as a Hike/Yoga Retreat, Physical Activity Day, Spa Treatments & Volunteerism. They will also plan 4 outings for the groups to engage socially as part of the mentorship program. These activities will consists of team building activities, cultural attractions, and outdoor outings. The Bronx EmpowerHer Circle will include: workshops with activities and resources provided; Healing Circles- time to speak with social worker or professional on said topic; Events/Activities like Hikes/Nature Walks; Physical Activity- Zumba/KickBoxing/Cardio/Yoga; Spa Day or Health Expo; Volunteerism event- Food Drive, Coat Drive, Clothing Drive, Toy Drive and Mentorship Program
What is the problem your idea aims to address?
the problem this idea aims to address is to encourage mentorship as our young people need better mentors, guidance, attention and love. Also it will provide a positive space for teens and young women to be educated, empowered and be seen and heard. It can also provide a holistic approach to support this group. The experiences together will help open their minds to a positive perspective on life and their goals.
