Rec Center for Youth and Immigrants

Idea Submission for The People's Money:
This program will offer10-15 free workshops across teh city over one year, focused on literacy, language learning, college readiness, and youth recreation. The workshops will serve both the young people and immigrant families, providing mentorship, career preparations and community connections in safe, accessible spaces such as local schools and recreational centers.
What is the problem your idea aims to address?
Education deserves more funding because it is the foundation of empowerment in NYC. Many youth and immigrant families lack access to affordable learning spaces, language skills, and language literacy programs and training. Investing in education strengthens communities, reduces inequality and helps residents--especially those new to the city--thrive in school, work and life
