Describe the challenge you want to address:

Forest Hills High School currently needs an upgrade to their computers, engineering, and robotics programs. The computer science lab room is small and cramped fitting 34 students in a half the space of a regular sized classroom. The computer equipment is old and deteriorating. The engineering and robotics team do not have a dedicated space to fully allow students to build and test their creations. One of our robotics team reached the nyc finals last year and came in 3rd, competing against other top public and private schools with vastly more resources. The robotics team reaches out to neighboring schools, elementary, middle, and high schools to help spread robotics. Our computer science computer lab is being used for the STEM in the south program so it would be benefiting a lot more students than just in Forest Hills.

What is the solution to the challenge?

35 new computers for the computer science room and space(preferably a larger one) for the computer lab. Refurbish another large science lab with new computers and with large workspace tables and storage cabinets to house student materials and projects for the engineering and robotics teams so we don’t have to continually move around what’s free and allow students to focus on their creations. 1 higher powered computer to run specialized engineering software to the our cnc machine to allow the robotics team to custom make parts. If the above can be the same room, that would work great as well.
