Describe the challenge you want to address:
Despite being home to some of Brooklyn's most vulnerable communities, southern Brooklyn has no mutual aid organization and fewer community organizations relative to other parts of the borough. Our neighbors suffer in silence, struggling with affording groceries, making rent, finding good jobs, and accessing childcare. Our children go without after school programs and homework help.
What is the solution to the challenge?
To solve this issue, we must work together to help each other out. This funding would go towards kickstarting a mutual aid community organization, enabling us to alleviate these burdens on our neighbors. Community members would submit a request for help with groceries, eldercare, or anything else they are struggling with. We would then, with the help of volunteers, disburse those goods or connect them to the needed resources.
