Many people throw usable furniture and items in the trash. Please make it easier for people to reduce the trash going to landfills.

Set up a monthly or quarterly pick up of usable items such as furniture, clothes, building materials, etc. These items could be dropped off at the various thrift and non profit donation centers, including Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, etc. Most people don't have the transportation or are too lazy to drop off items at donation centers. Or have each of these groups make a monthly or quarterly cycle through each neighborhood on the appointed day to take what they are interested in. You can also make the pickups on local street corners if stopping at every house is too much. Having one location per borough won't work because people won't want to pay for transportation or take the time to drop the items off.
