Describe the challenge you want to address:
Growing up in an inner city with limited living, Spaces, public spaces are known to be an extension of our home. Parks libraries delis, the block, the little plazas that are in the middle of the road, all are part of what makes our home a home. Though the spaces are used, they are really used to promote community engagement and empowerment. I propose we claim public spaces as an extension of our homes.
What is the solution to the challenge?
There should be a day in each neighborhood that promotes community gathering and engagement, utilizing public spaces that are normally overlooked . This can be a day of workshops, a festival, sharing the various cultures that make up our neighborhoods are even re-creating public spaces to be a literal extension of our home like a movie night or food festival and dinner party community members can share and sell to one another.
