Describe the challenge you want to address:
One of the challenges in Bushwick is the lack of access to land and knowledge of a healthy diet. Many of our residents do not have access to outdoor spaces to grow their own food or the knowledge of how to do so. Even though fresh produce is in abundance in markets, the growing processes do not always allow the products to be nutrient rich or environmentally friendly.
What is the solution to the challenge?
Turn our unusable playground area and small garden into full-sized, well-organized, and welcoming community garden. The neighboring Hope Gardens Housing, P.S 377, Achievement First, I.S 291, and other neighbors would be invited to host events, help plant and harvest. We hire specialists to inform all ages on how to grow a healthy future for Bushwick.
