NYU students, faculty and staff often face inconvenience and traffic stress during their commutes, especially when many people drive alone, which can lead to wasted resources and parking difficulties. This phenomenon not only increases personal commuting costs, but also makes traffic conditions around the university more congested. Therefore, in order to improve travel efficiency and reduce the burden of commuting, a solution that can promote vehicle sharing among campus personnel is urgently needed.

What is the solution to the challenge?

Our suggestion was to develop a ridesharing app specifically designed for NYU students and employees. The app will use smart matching technology to find suitable ride-sharing partners for users based on their travel time and route. The application is set up virtually with a dedicated campus verification function to ensure that users are completely safe and trustworthy. Additionally, to get more people involved in ridesharing, we plan to partner with NYU to offer additional benefits such as reduced parking fees, dedicated parking spaces, or gift points for parking spaces. This solution not only reduces commuting costs for individuals, but also promotes environmental protection while easing off-campus traffic pressure.
