Original Idea Voted on by New Yorkers: This program would connect young adults to older adults seeking assistance with light home repairs. Training would be provided for the young adults as well as a stipend.

How does your organization plan to bring this idea to life?

Elite Learners, Inc. will deliver a 4-week after-school training program in East Flatbush, Canarsie, and Flatbush. Youth participants will learn home repair skills and work alongside older adults in the community. The program will include mentorship, job readiness training, and stipends for participants, emphasizing service and community building.

What motivated your organization to apply to implement this idea?

Elite Learners, Inc. applied to strengthen its commitment to empowering youth and building intergenerational connections. With a track record in community-based mentorship, job readiness training, and anti-violence programs, the organization is well-positioned to implement this project. We bring deep community ties in our service.

How do you think this project will make a difference in your community?

This project will enhance intergenerational connections, improve safety and well-being among older adults, and provide youth with essential skills, job readiness, and a sense of purpose. It supports the community’s resilience and fosters positive change

List at least one thing you're excited about related to this project!

We are most excited about creating opportunities for youth to gain valuable skills while positively impacting the lives of older adults in our community. We look forward to witnessing the bonds formed and the confidence built among the young participants.

How can someone participate or stay up to date on the project?

The community will be able to learn about our program through word of mouth, staff, at events, social media posts and will have a number to call.
