Essential

Advocates Exchange

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

What problem would you like to solve?

NYC social movements lack integration with, communication with, understanding of, social movements in Latin America and Africa, like the movements for racial and LGBTQIA equity.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

It is important to connect with international movements to build strength and expand perspectives and movement strategies

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Utilize existing hotels, dorm rooms or homes to temporarily house international movement builders and movement scholars in the fights for racial equity and LGBTQIA rights. Promote workshops and lectures where NYC residents could learn from and benefit from the exchange with these advocates.

Who would that help?

NYC movement builders and community advocates in the movement s for racial equity and LGBTQIA rights

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

Manhattan
