What problem would you like to solve?

We would like to ensure equity and inclusion for the LGBTQ population in Hunts Point.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

All children and families in the Hunts Point community should feel inclusivity and welcome in all community programs. Working with youth in the Hunts Point community, HPAC wants to ensure inclusivity in all programs and provide a safe space for students to be who they are and express themselves freely.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

HPAC staff would participate in workshops to learn more about inclusivity, and diversity and the tools and techniques needed to bring those practices into all youth programming. Furthermore, HPAC would host student and family workshops among the Hunts Point community and focus on LGBTQ resources in mental health advocacy, health and nutrition, and family education.
