A Walk in the Park

Avatar: Community Member Community Member

What problem would you like to solve?

Loneliness among the elderly, health issues due to inactivity among the elderly

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

It is important to maintain quality of life and health into our elderly years

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Community walks in the parks. A group of elderly folks meet each week or month to walk in public parks. The walks are short, but packed with conversation and activities, such as bird watching and identifying, and plant identification. Parks rangers/staff help organize the walks

Who would that help?

Elderly people

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

Queens
