What problem would you like to solve?

The lack of intergenerational comradery. Bridging the gap between youth and seniors

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Some seniors are living alone in the community and are unable to attend senior centers. While we offer a virtual option there's nothing like face to face contact. Decreasing isolation for seniors can prevent so many other illnesses. relationships are extremely important in well-being as we age. Seniors have so much wisdom to share and could potentially help a youth in the direction of a course of study, future careers, etc. Both parties can learn new skills. Greater bonds between the generations creates a stronger and healthier community.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Youth helping seniors learn how to use technology, wellness visits, assisting seniors with errands, arts and recreation programs between youth and seniors, partnering in person is groups and activities, etc.

Who would that help?

It would help the youth, the senior and the community as a whole. It would also be beneficial to the families that might be involved with the senior.

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

Manhattan
