What problem would you like to solve?

Many senior citizens have become shut-ins in the pandemic. They were forced to stop going to senior centers, to stop seeing family and friends. Many have not returned to these activities, and many might not know what programs and services for seniors currently exist in the aftermath of the pandemic.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

Many seniors live alone, by themselves and are no doubt suffering from depression and loneliness. No one should have to live like that.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

A targeted outreach program to seniors in their homes is needed. Outreach personnel should let seniors know what programs and activities are available at their local senior centers and elsewhere in the community. Perhaps this can even be done with teenage volunteers to help involve the youth of the community.

    Who would that help?

This would help many isolated senior citizens who have lost connections to the outside world during the pandemic.

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

    Bronx
